FEATURING NEW DANCE WORKS FROM
DancEast Collective
Jasmine Clark
Friends Life Community
Kaylee Lane
This thought-provoking and often moving collection of short dance works examines the complex relationship between the body and mind, and how that affects societal perceptions. DancEast Collective dives deep into somatic work and physical expression in an abridged version of “Body of Knowledge,” revealing the stories we tell ourselves about our bodies, and the freedom found in overcoming those narratives. Returning to the Kindling stage, Friends Life Community will debut a new devised movement work that examines disability as counterculture through the eyes of artists redefining how society perceives them. Jasmine Clark shares an intimate solo dance celebrating her own neurodivergent identity, while a group piece from Kaylee Lane explores manifestations of mental struggles such as depression, anxiety, and OCD. Together, these dances share a diversity of perspectives on the complicated relationship between the body and the mind, and show us how we can celebrate everyone for exactly who they are
